Installation and Configuration
Before your Teleffect system will work, Teleffect must be installed,
configured, and running on each computer in the System. Teleffect uses
each operating system's native installation mechanism. For more
information, see the "Installation"
in the User's Guide.
Windows NT®
Run the self-extracting executable TeleffectInstall.exe. The
Teleffect installation wizard will guide you through installation and
initial configuration. The next time you reboot, Teleffect will be
installed.
IRIX®
Use either inst or the software manager (swmgr) to
install the Teleffect images. Then run /usr/sbin/teleffect as
root to configure Teleffect. The configuration program will start
Teleffect when configuration is finished.
Windows NT®
-
Teleffect does not work with USB devices, unless your hardware vendor
has provided special support.
-
Teleffect does not work perfectly with some notebook computer
touchpads. See the FAQ or the Electric Arc website for more details.
IRIX®
-
When the Teleffect Master is running on an IRIX®
6.5 computer and that computer is on the login screen, Teleffect is
unable to redirect keyboard input to slave computers. This is due to
security precautions within the SGI X login screen. Be sure to log in
to your master computer.
-
When the Teleffect Master is running on an IRIX®
computer and the pointer is on another computer's screen when a
locking screensaver starts, the screensaver will not succeed in locking
the screen. If having your screensaver lock is important to you, either
return the pointer to the Master's screen before the screensaver
begins, or run the Master on a non-IRIX® computer.
